Budding Photographer

He took a picture of me with his cell phone. I gave him my digital camera, showed him what to do, and soon, he was snapping away. These are some of his photos.

By the way, I asked him to show me the other photos on his phone and they were mostly of his teacher or other monks. I was surprised to see many monks with cell phones. It felt almost anachronistic hearing the familiar Cingular ring tone in a remote region with no running water.

In between chanting sessions during the five day prayer festival, a disciplinarian called out warnings through his bull horn about inappropriately using cell phones during the ceremony. If found violating the rule, their phones would be confiscated. Even monks get tempted to check their text messages.
