Death and Creation

When Tibetans die, they offer their bodies to the spirits. A man who lives near the burial ground, hacks up body parts and bones with an axe. Vultures circle the sky, waiting for a chance to swoop down and have their fill. They say that even vultures won't eat a man whose spirit is evil. When we were here, a rainbow appeared.

The last photo was taken at a large sculpture factory near Qinghai where young artists were hand-carving statues.
